About SIT:
Siliguri Institute of Technology, a Degree Engineering College, started functioning since 1999 with the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and initially the Institute was affiliated to the University of North Bengal. From 2001 onwards, the Institute has been affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT).Siliguri, the gateway to the North-East India, Bhutan, Nepal and Sikkim, is well connected to Kolkata and other part of the Country by Rail, Bus, Air services. Siliguri Institute of Technology is 5 kms away from Siliguri, on NH 55,
connecting Darjeeling to the rest of the country, situated in a lush green environment surrounded by Tea Garden, Forests with Himalayas at the backdrop. Good infrastructure, well equipped Laboratories and good Faculty & Laboratory Staffs are available in each department. Special attention is given to maintain discipline, dress code and attendance.

TRANNING & PLACEMENT
The Activities of this T&P Cell · To produce efficient, equipped and readily deployable students for industry as per demand.
· To enable students to achieve best industry placement, the value added activities like Finishing School Programme (FSP) has been adopted which covers soft skills training and regular workshop, HR and personality development programme, language laboratory activities etc.
· SIT’s T&P programme is well conducted through centrally managed Central Placement Cell (CPC) of Techno India Group (TIG).
· CPC is in touch with industry in regular manner and feed back to local T&P cell, and at the same time for local employment, local T&P cell is constantly maintaining a good industrial rapport to boost up local placement performance for students of BBA/BCA/MBA/HMCT courses

T&P action plans
For 1st year Students
· To identify strength and weakness in English language communication skills. This action plans are implemented through FSP classes, language laboratory exercise.
For 2nd year Students
· To motivate them towards corporate orientation and to train them for industry environment. This is achieved through strategic development programmes like T&P induction classes, industry visit, seminar by guest faculties and circulation of reputed industrial articles and news letters.
For 3rd year Students
· To inspire and mold them to accept challenge of forth coming campus placement. This goal is achieved by regular group discussion, mock interviews, continuous aptitude training classes and other soft skill work shops, both by internal resources and external professional trainers.
For 4th year Students
· To equip the left over students and to enable them in off-campus placement, regular monitoring T &P programmes are adopted through student-corporate interactions and other curriculum.

LIBRARY
The institute has a well stocked Central Library and 8 Departmental Libraries which collectively support the teaching , research and various academic programmes of the institute .
The Library has approximately 25000 volumes of books related to all the branches of Science & Engineering . Books are classified according to Dewey Decimal classification scheme and are catalogued according to Anglo American Cataloguing rules II, with local variation using L1BSYS software.
A Large number of National and International journals and magazines are subscribed. Special volumes like Handbooks, Standard books, Manuals, Encyclopedias, Technical Reports, Project Reports, Non-print materials in form of CDs/DVDs and Conference Proceedings are also available to the students and staffs.
Library has already adapted ICT infrastructure and provides internet, OPAC and reprography facility. The centre provides services to the users through separate section like circulation, Reference, Journal Section.
